I have got to be better about getting on and making these posts. I keep having ideas of what I want to write but then I get busy. So I went home for the Fourth, three-day weekend!!!!! Love them, especially when I actually get to use them. Friday I got in, ate leftovers, chatted, didn't do much and went to bed kind of early for me, 10:30pm.
Saturday my parents woke me up around 9am, I was still exhausted and thought it was like 6am. I pulled myself out of bed and was in the mood for a swim.
So mom and I got in, it was a little chilly feeling to us Arizonans, but was nice once you started swimming. Then the kids all came over to swim too, because it was a 120 degree day! Below you see all the kids with their floaties having a great time and then... fat guy in a little coat, er, floatie!
Quent held up the little flower shaped tube, which barely fit around his head and said he could dive through it. After much debate and me completely egging him on, the above happened. Sure he dove into it; it took him a few more times to get out of it. haha! Good times. After swimming we of course needed to eat, Tanner set himself under Nana while she got things out of the fridge. What a good fridge inspector he'd make, you wouldn't even notice him. :)
Sunday, more good times. We all drove out to the desert, outside city limits to light some fireworks. Here we are on our way.
Matthew started the kids off with a little snake thing, which they all wanted to get up close and personal of course.
Then we got the bigger fountain ones going. The kids loved them. And Matthew and Nathaniel did a great job with the pyrotechnics.
Here are the fans, watching from a safe distance.
"Look Mom" sooo adorable.
Nana and Lexi
Wondering Isaac, kept walking alone into the great abyss of desert, here he was about to go.
THE FINALE!
Seriously, boys it was great and thanks Dad for providing the fireworks! It was so fun to watch the little kids excitement and joy and taking pictures. And of course the fireworks, I loved them!
Then we burned the aftermath.
Monday the FOURTH!
I started the day with a swim with Matthew and my dad and helped to clean the pool. Then we went to look at guns, but the place was closed, so we went to Lowes grabbed a few things and headed back to the house for brunch. Tanner just chilling.
Then because Papa did get a pellet gun of some sort at Wal-mart, the kids got to watch him try to shoot gophers from our back porch. Mom felt like she was part of the Beverly Hill Hillbillies. Well mom, time to accept it.
Matthew joined him with his slingshot, but they were unable to get any of those pesky critters.
At the same time...Nathaniel was helping me make beignets (french donut), similar to a scone but not quite. I got the mix from Cafe Dumonds in New Orleans and knew Nathaniel would be the best to help with the process. He was great and they tasted just like the ones from the shop.
Here is the great chef, doing a wonderful frying job. His kids totally ate a BUNCH, it was amazing to see. But I understand, they were SUPER delicious. Thanks Nathaniel.
Then more swimming and while the dads did the bbq with hamburgers and hotdogs, I got out the poppers for the cuties. Here is Baby Q (who really is no longer a baby but I still love calling him Baby Q). This is his really cool way of asking for poppers and not getting in line with the others. But it was so cute, of course Aunt E gave him some.
The other kids were all mostly good about waiting in line and so adorable. They LOVED the poppers. Could get them fast enough.
When the poppers didn't pop when they were thrown, they would stomp on them like crazy.
Hope your fourth was as awesome and filled with fireworks.
Cute post! We were glad you could come down for the weekend. You are so good with the kids and helping us out! I'm glad you are so good about getting pictures. It is fun to read your blog.
