ACTUAL Birthday...(Part III)

Saturday night, the boys after their story went right to sleep, the girls... hardly slept. They got separated around 9pm by Aunt Becca (so Aunt E didn't have to the bad guy) and they woke up the Nana around 2am and were still up when Papa left at 5am. They fell asleep sometime after that and woke up around 7:30am. I calculate, at most, they got 4 hours. Crazy girls!
The boys were up around 6:30am and ready to play!
After a pancake breakfast, I got out a puzzle that the girls worked on while we waited for parents to come pick up. I was barely moving. I was so sore from all the games/exercise the night before.
I was also barely awake, obviously.
Dad had come home from meetings by the time the kids left and was on the other couch catching up too.
This girl on the other hand was WIDE awake!
and wanting me to wake up and play.
I eventually got up, sort of and took it easy until it was time to get ready for church. After church we ran a couple errands, saw my siblings and then came home for dinner. I love this pic Mal took, the lighting is so cozy and I love my birthday banner.
I also love this pic of the birthday girl. 27 years old and still SEXY!
Mom making dinner and chatting it up with us. I seriously love hanging out with my mom.
After dinner, Mal and I had to get on the road back to Phoenix. It was a great weekend, a great birthday, and great drive back. Thanks to everyone who was a part of the greatness!
PS, Heres what my knee looked like the next day. This picture doesn't not do it justice, it was GROSS looking! Stupid concrete but I still love you Red Rover.

Single Woman's Shoes

"Sometimes its hard to walk in a single woman's shoes. That's why we need really special ones. To make the walk just a little more fun."

I read this earlier and laughed and thought, "so true!"
Yes it IS hard at times to walk in a single woman's shoes, I would know, I've been doing it for almost 27 years. So I decided to do a shoot with all of my "really special" shoes that have made my walk more fun over the years.

No, these are not all my shoes, but they are the prettiest.
Don't they look so fun and the display I think is super cute too.
Yes, I have a lot and yet all the time I see shoes that I KNOW would make my walk even more fun. But I haven't bought them all, so give me some credit. Side note: I'm now thinking it might be kind of fun to have shelves down the wall with all my especially hot shoes displayed all the time.

Little Girls, Little Girls

Have you seen Annie, remember Miss Hannigan singing that? So Saturday after work, I drove 3 hours home to Yuma, where my night was filled with little girls, 5 to be exact. Autumn 7, Eliza 6, twins Lauren and Lexi 5 when they arrived 6 when they left, and last but not least Kate 5. I invited my nieces living in Yuma for a sleepover. Eliza and  Kate arrived first with their parents and brothers. I was making the fruit kebobs and they loved helping. Eliza very matter of factly said, "Aunt E your talent is banana slicing." So if you know of any banana slicing positions please let me know, I now know where my talent lies. Nathaniel was a bit sad to have to leave, so I gave him a kebob for the road.

Such a cutie, too bad this was girls only. Then while I finished preparing dinner Autumn, Lauren, and Lexi arrived and joined the other two making masterpieces with sidewalk chalk.

Then we had a picnic dinner of fruit and vegie kebobs, grilled cheese moons and stars, and deviled eggs. All finger foods for all the little fingers.

Look how happy Eliza looks (top pic on right). I have no clue what she was talking about, but she was excited. Autumn pretended the skewers were antennae, so cute! Quite the fun dinner guests.

Kate, Autumn, Eliza, Lexi, lil' sexy Lauren. Me eating.

After our picnic, we went inside for some painting! I bought some cute picture frames at a dollar store and brought paint, flowers and ribbon to decorate the frames.

I forgot to get pictures WHILE the girls were painting, but I got this one of the aftermath. Good thing this tablecloth was from the dollar store too. By the end it was covered in red and blue.

After painting, we had pamper time. I gave each girl a complete spa pedicure, massage and all. Again, I forgot to get pictures of them reading their books with their feet soaking. I'm a bit sad about that, they looked too cute. I did get this pic of all their toes AFTER the pedicures.

During their pedicures they also watched Bernstein Bear Halloween episodes I had purchased. They were totally into them. Little, "oh no"s and "whats going to happen" kept echoing through the group. During the final episode, I went to prepare the beds and air mattress. When suddenly I hear a chorus of, "Aunt Elizabeth, Kate threw-up!"
Aaah!
Thankfully, Kate had asked for a bowl earlier and didn't get a drop anywhere but in that bowl, wheeww! It was still gross for me to be holding the bowl of chunky throw-up. But I got her cleaned up and the bowl emptied and only gagged a couple times. Good job Aunt E! After the throw-up, Kate was totally fine and bouncing on her air mattress, which made me nervous because I did not want any more throw-up. Now that I've said "throw-up" a gazillion times, I'll move on. It was actually a very quick incident and then potty, prayer, and bedtime stories. All my Sleeping Beauties. (Notice the big bowl next to Kate.)

After they were all in bed, I had major clean up to do. I touched up their frames, so the paint was even (I'm  slightly OCD, only slightly.) Then I baked, FROM SCRATCH, orange & lemon cupcakes for the girls in the morning and I decorated for the mini birthday party.

Crowns for the twin 6-yr old birthday girls Lauren and Lexi.

I also did some laundry and watched a semi-lame movie with my parents who had just gotten home from a scout thing. I barely managed to shower and crawled into bed around 3am. Little girls chatter woke me up at 6:30am, yes, a mere 3 and a half hours after I laid down. I woke to five little girls trying to pick up shattered glass! The glass had come from one of the picture frames. After moving them all away, I swept up the shards, grateful that not a single one got cut. Then they watched Thumblina while we did facials and tattoos! The kitchen floor was my tattoo parlor.

The tattoos were all Halloween themed. Look at those cute pumpkins on Eliza's arm!

Eyes in the back of her head, mwahahaha! Thats my spooky laugh.

After the facials, which I was surprised how much the girls liked them AND how good they were about not touching their faces, we had breakfast. Scrambled eggs and cupcakes! And we crowned the birthday girls and sang them Happy Birthday. Cuties!

After breakfast we called Uncle Jonathan in Texas and sang him Happy Birthday too. Then we finished the photo frames. Nana was back in town, so she helped with the ribbon and made cute bows as requested.

I worked the glue gun. The girls chose what flowers and ribbons they wanted and where to put them, of course with a few suggestions from me and Nana.

Then they were given little goodie bags and parents picked them up around 9:30am. Not a moment too soon! I was EXHAUSTED!!! It was definitely fun and the girls seemed to have a great time and I do love party planning and throwing. Nevertheless, I needed a break. Nancy (mom of Autumn and the twins) told me later that the girls kept asking her to touch their faces and asked if they were "so soft." Haha! Totally worth it! After church I watched the movie X-Men First Class with my parents. My mom was a bit reluctant at first, but by the end she was on the edge of her seat, literally. I totally loved it, thought it was the best one so far. Highly recommend it, if you haven't seen it. Then we had dinner and headed over to Quentin and Nancy's for the twins birthday cake and ice-cream.

As I left Quent's house, I snatched these photos of Tanner and Isaac. Handsome boys!

It was a CRAZY busy weekend but so much fun! Lets do it again sometime girls, just not too soon ;)
