Childhood Dreams

Around Christmas I always hear people talk about that one gift they always wanted but never got. Lots of them buy that gift for their child. And I think to myself - your kid probably doesn't care and it doesn't have the same meaning to them. The best I heard was somebody's spouse getting it for them as an adult, and it was like an Easy-Bake or something. The girl was so happy and I thought it was such a cute idea.
Yet despite the illogic, I'm going to do the same thing. We weren't rich but we weren't poor and the one present I REALLY wanted every year, as far as I can remember, I always got. Thanks Mom and Dad!
However, there ARE things I did want as a child though that I never had, three imparticular.

1. A treehouse - it just seemed like the coolest thing in the world, a place to kick it, play house, sleepout, swing from. Even as an adult I would love one. As a kid though, we never had a tree you could put a tree-house in. Isn't this one cute?

Or a multi-level one with a slide and a swing, seriously that would be AWESOME!

2. Horses & Lessons - I love them, I pretty much dislike all pets, but I always wanted horses to ride and to take lessons. Hope my kids like horses because we'll have them and they're taking lessons.
Yep, I totally wanted the riding pants and red jacket and a beautiful thoroughbred to jump.

3. Surprise Birthday Party - of course it will be a surprise so I can't say at what age they will get it and it will have to be a different age for each one, so by the time the last one has one, he/she is not expecting it at a specific year. I did kind of have one when I was 19 but I also kind of knew it was coming. I want to blow their socks off, for it to come WAY out of left field, put their hair on end - you get the point.
Yes, banners, balloons, party hats and somebody jumping out of a present or a cake - the whole nine yards! Wouldn't that just make your day?
