So it finally came, November 5, 2011, The AZ Urban Race, the one I've been trying to train for. I say trying because I didn't get where I wanted to be but I did okay. So I'll just go ahead and tell you who came in first. Matthew, that little punk, he worked all night and on no sleep and very little training, ran it in 24 minutes. Nathaniel came in second, I came in third at 32:39 and Quent came in not far behind. Out of my coworkers, I was one of the last. I was amazed at how fast people can run.
Here are a TON of pictures, my dad and Nancy were the photographers for me.
Thanks to our cheerleaders and photographers, Autumn, Dad, Q, Isaac, Lexi, and Lauren (not in photo.)
Coworkers
It was COLD! Another cheerleader, Kamber.
I said, "look tough," this is what I got.
That's better!
We're accountants, what can I say, we're nerds.
Here we go...
And we're off!
Matthew took the lead right away.
At this point I was in front of Nathaniel, but not for long.
Quentin pulling up the rear.
The first obstacle, barriers.
Headed to the first obstacle.
Matthew headed to the 3rd obstacle.
Matthew in white, center and my coworker Mike on right.
Nathaniel fiving Lauren.
You may not be able to see it, so click on the photo to enlarge and check out his right calf. It's crazy!
Here I come, cheerleaders doing a great job.
So easy, I have time to silly pose.
Nice shot of my assets, haha.
Hey there's daddy getting fives.
Look at him dominate that wall.
Obstacle 6, Scaffolding.
Pushing through.
Obstacle 7, running the outer fields of the baseball diamond.
Obstacle 8, the dreaded crawl. Matthew is in white at the bottom of the hill.
After he finished the crawl, still going strong.
Here is Nathaniel after his crawl.
Look closely, I'm under the fence.
Here I am coming out. Terrible form, butt totally up in the air. Thankfully, the fence was high enough, haha.
Headed to Obstacle 9 - bleachers.
Here comes Quent, he's got his butt up too.
Tackling those bleachers.
The final obstacle right before the finish was 2 sets of 2 cars bumper to bumper.
Strong finish
I forgot I was supposed to meet up with my coworkers for a post race photo. My dad happened to catch them and then told me about it. Mcgladrey is #1, though in reality we finished 4th of 130 teams. I'm happy with 4th.
Real Estate group, represent!
Sorenson's post photo. They thought it was HILARIOUS to block me from the shot.
Just pushing me around...
Finally! They lifted me up and we got a great photo.
Yeah Team Sorenson!
We rock!
Lots of love.
The kids loved the bobcat mascot.
As we walked back to the cars, Autumn took some photos with her mom's camera. Here's papa chasing her.
Here's the whole family.
Finally a photo of Lauren. She did not want to be in photos.
SOOOO funny, Autumn took some great candids.
It was pretty cold starting out, but half way through I had to ditch my long sleeve shirt because I was so hot. The obstacles were perfect for me, not too difficult. I probably could have pushed myself harder but maybe not, there was a moment I felt I might throw-up. Overall it was challenging and fun. All the boys had a good time and the sister-in-laws even wanted to do it. I guess I'll see YOU next year!
