We Are What We Eat...

So a couple weeks ago I went to dinner with a few friends to a little place in Tempe called Cornish Pasty Co. UH-MA-ZING!!!  Everything they make/sell is a pastie, also known as a British pasty, origination Cornwall Britain.  It is a circle of pastry dough with ANYTHING put in it, then folded in half and crimped on the edge. They actually also sell sides, salads, and soups, but its really all about the pasties.

I had the Shepard's Pie with lamb and mint jelly pasty. So tasty. Just writing this down, gives me the strongest craving, maybe some co-workers and I will go for lunch this week. ;)

Even their desserts are pasties and they were DELICIOUS!!!! Like OMG!!! Below is the Strawberry Pavlova and yes, even better tasting then it looks!!!

We also had the Apple Caramel Pasty with vanilla ice-cream. OH SO YUMMY!!!

If you are in the area they have a place in Tempe and Mesa and they have a website. I give this place 6 stars on a 5 star scale, thats how amazing!

Then Saturday, I went to a place near my apartment in Phoenix that people talk about all the time, Postino's. It was good, not amazing. They are most well known for their bruschetta, we had at least 8 different kinds but most had fruit on them. It just wasn't my thing, but I could see how people like it. Some of the options were green apple w/ brie & fig spread, artichoke dip, prosciutto w/ figs, ricotta w/ dates & pistachios, and roasted peppers with goat cheese. These combinations were put on top of a thick piece of french bread. They also had soups, paninis and desserts. I had a tomoto basil soup that was perfect! Absolutely delicious. We also shared two desserts that both were HEAVEN in a dish! I didn't take any pictures of my own but I got one from their website.

We of course also shared two desserts the chocolate bouchon (chocolate cake, ice-cream, fudge sauce, heaven) and the salted caramel sundae (caramel, pretzel, nuts, ice-cream, heaven). Both were sinfully sweet and the last had a perfect amount of salty. YUM! I would go back just for the desserts.
