Kindness...Pass It On!

So I went to Wal-mart last saturday to get some groceries. I'm usually not up early Saturdays but my parents were in town and had to leave early for a meeting. So I was up and figured I'd do my grocery shopping before my facial and then work. Saturday at the office - busy season has started. :(

So I get my groceries and because of recent weight gain, I've decided to eat healthier. My cart was filled with fresh produce, lowfat cottage cheese, skim milk, lean ground turkey. I'm mentally calculating in my head my bill, despite the fact that I can afford the bill no matter how high, I still calculate, didn't end up in accounting by chance :) So I get to the register and my checker is in a wheel-chair, starched button-up dress shirt, AND a TIE! Remember folks, I'm at Wal-mart! And especially mine, I'm in a bit of a ghetto area. It immediately made me smile, I knew he cared about doing a good job and he took pride in himself. He starts ringing me up and says "your strawberries will be 77 cents, they're on sale at another store."

I was surpised and said thank-you and proceeded to be dumb founded and totally got teary-eyed as he told me half my other groceries were on sale at other stores and gave me the discount, even though I had no clue about the other stores deals and didn't need the discount.  I was blown away at his sweetness, cheery attitude and genuine kindness.  He totally went above and beyond and you just don't see that very often anymore.  I wish more people were that genuine and kind. Life I'm sure has not been the best for that guy and yet he's happy and thinking of others. It really made my day and helped me be more cheery and thoughtful the rest of the day. I'm grateful for genuinely caring people and their kindness.
