Moving?

So back in January I found out the transfer to the Raleigh, NC office came through, but that I couldn't go until after the April Tax deadline. This meant I was going to be moving right after months of long hours, six day work weeks. So I started right away packing, a box here, a box there, whenever I had a spare minute. A Goodwill drop here, hand-me-downs to the nieces, and the huge comfy couch to my brother Nathaniel. Little by little. I've been living in chaos at work and home the last couple months. As of March 30th this is what my apartment looked like.
My roommate had already moved all her stuff out, which included the dining set.
At least I still have a tv, for the EXTREMELY occasional, brief moments of vegging out.
Since then I've just gotten more boxes stacked up around. I wish my moving process was a little quicker, this long drawn out packing along with busy season is killing me.

When I Grow Up I Want to be a Tax Accountant

This video went VIRAL in my office today! Then when I saw my sister-in-law, a tax manager at another company and told her about it, she said it had been shared in her office too.

This is the life of a tax accountant. Enjoy!

Great Day

Sometimes you just have a solid day. Not anything EXTRAORDINARY, just good. Mine started with the fact that I woke up at 7am and didn't feel so exhausted I never wanted to leave my bed. I felt awake and got up. I haven't gotten up this early in months, which feels more like years to me. I went to work and was pretty productive. While at work I gave the new guy some tax returns to prepare and then asked the manager if he wanted a first reviewer before him or for them to go straight to him and he said, "yeah, I'd like you to review them." For all you non-public accountants, you are thinking, ok? But its a BIG deal. I'm a first year and I'm REVIEWING tax returns. So I'm pretty much a big deal now.

Day continues, my coworkers are pretty entertaining and one told me that I'm one of the best people he's worked with. Again, I'm pretty awesome. I eat an ice-cream bar from the array of ice-cream treats some managers brought in for us, pretty much perfectly delicious. I go get a facial and made sure I hydrated all day before I went. Last time I had a facial I think the lack of hydration and the chemicals made me a bit sick. Then I did 2.5 miles averaging 11.5 minutes per mile. HUGE improvement from my original 14 minute mile. AND I weighed myself and have lost 4 pounds. See what I mean by a solid day?

For those of you participating in the Urbanathlon, you better get working, because I plan to blow you all away!  See you at the starting line...
