So there once was this boy... yes this is a story post about a boy. Well this boy I thought was kind of cute, older (plus), has a solid career (plus), debt free (plus). A couple months ago he made a flirty comment about having a movie party for his new tv and me being the only one invited. Did I mention, this was to my FACE, not text, not even a call, to ME. That's a big plus, this day and age flirting/dating happens all wirelessly and never in person. So I told him let me know when. Well then a couple days later I invited him to a potluck, which he said maybe to and never came. I tried a couple more times to hang out, I was flirty and pretty clear that I was interested in him. But I never heard from him again, no movie invite, nothing and I haven't seen him since because I've been traveling and busy with work.

Well today I invited two friends to come to dinner with me at a little place, kind of out of the way, called Havana Cafe. It has Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Dominican food and I've been wanting to try it. Well no sooner then we get seated, this couple walks in. This place is TINY, like seats 25. One room, no dividers or anything, no way to not be seen and its HIM. I was kind of sideways to the door so I looked away from the door to my friend Mary and proceeded to keep talking. But remember the title of this post is AWKWARD, how did it become so, you ask?

The waiter seated them right next to my table, the place is tiny, the tables are close, he sat less than a foot away from me. Okay, fine, just pretend you don't see us. Nope, he goes ahead and says, "Hi Elizabeth," and then introduces Mary and I to his date. Thankfully he did not continue to talk to us and my other friend showed up. We had a lovely dinner despite the awkward seating arrangement.

I definitely recommend this place. The food was delicious and it was really cute. We sat inside but they also have an outdoor patio with pretty lights and heaters. Atmosphere is great. The price is a little bit pricier than Applebee's for dinner. My meal was the Cuban sampler and it was $28. It was delicious. Mary had the Puerto Rican sampler that was $22, it was also fabulous. Fried plantains, croquettes, mofongo, black beans and rice and much more - que RICO! I also ordered the tortilla espanola, the "tortilla" is not like a mexican tortilla, it has egg and potato and its scrumptious. Spain calls it a tortilla de patata and its an appetizer with no sauce or anything. This cafe serves it with a mild salsa, with and without the salsa it tastes good. Just having it first in Spain, I prefer it without the salsa. I did not get a picture of my plate, but I did get a picture of the Puerto Rican plate.
Awkward start, tasty ending!
