I'm Not the Engergizer Bunny

I got a training plan online from Hal Higdon, I heard he's one of the best running coaches. His website is pretty great and had stretching and strengthening moves too, click on his name if you're interested in checking it out.

So most running plans have you do your longest run on Sunday but since I don't run on Sundays and his plan has a rest day on Monday I decided I would just switch those two days. Thus, tonight I did 5 miles! Yikes! I was a bit nervous since up to this point my longest run was only 3 miles and I've only done that once about two months ago. And my running pretty much didn't happen the first two weeks of September because of work. AND this past week I only ran twice and I felt so slow and it was excruciatingly difficult to run. I felt like I was trying to run through pudding or something.  So like I said, I was nervous. But I had to do it, I need to get better before my race in November.

...And, it wasn't so bad. I did 5 miles in 1hr 4min. So an average of just under a 13min. mile! I felt GREAT about that. I did for the first time, however, experience chaffing. Boo! My inner thighs were rubbing enough they got a rash and stung for the last mile, as well as my left arm. What hurt more than the chaffing, was my pride due to the fact that my thighs were fat enough to chaff. I know its a common running thing but still, definitely time to get toned. Oh I also got a pretty decent size blister on my right foot. it was about 2.5 inches long. And I totally popped it with a pin and squished all the juice out. GROSS! But really it was kind of cool. Thankfully, the blister wasn't too painful.  Overall I felt it was quite successful. We'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow...
