This past weekend I finally got to use my Labor Day and went home for a long weekend. September 15 is the biggest tax deadline at my office and I worked crazy long hours and through labor day weekend. So right after I needed a BREAK. I did a half day Friday and took off the following Monday. I drove straight home from work and got there by 4 in the afternoon. I stopped in to say hi to my dad and then went home to unpack. I had dinner at 5pm with my parents. I felt like I was 80 and everybody else in Cracker Barrel was over 80, except for my parents and I. The dinner was good, my dad loved his fish, but the desserts were fantastic. Mom ordered the chocolate cake, the picture of the pumkin custard w/ ginger snap crumble looked good but I wasn't sure I'd like it. I'm SOOO glad we got it, the chocolate cake was fabulous, so fabulous, mom had it almost gone before the plate hit the table. But the custard, OH MY! It completely beat expectations and the gorgeous picture, it was sooo delicious. I highly reccomend it.
My dad also had a 1 hour fully body massage appointment for me at 6pm. Dinner and 2 glasses of lemonade BEFORE a massage, not the best idea. I almost peed on the table, THAT would have been embarrassing. Thankfully, I held it. And I was still able to relax and enjoy the massage. My body felt whole after the massage, it was great. Honestly the best massage I've had.
Saturday morning I went out with my brother Nathaniel, his wife Tennille, four kids and my dad to the desert to shoot. I stuck with the 22 and the rutger 380, I like small guns with little to no kick. The kids, loved it all. I was shocked! I thought the sound alone would bother them, only Kate hated it. We put ear protection on all of them, Tanner looked sooo cute with them.
Nathaniel Jr. was PSYCHED to be shooting. The night before when we said we were going he asked if we were going to shoot bad guys, haha, so cute.
Kate below with her special girl ear muffs, papa bought her. She wasn't quite as thrilled by the guns.
Eliza liked pulling the trigger and daddy helped her with the proper way of holding the gun.
Jr. was trigger HAPPY, he kept pulling and pulling, even after the ammo was gone. And see that smile on his face, he just kept asking to shoot. He even shot the AK-47, seriously that thing is huge AND has a nasty kick but he didn't seem to mind.
Oh look how happy daddy is teaching his boys to shoot.
After shooting we headed to the aquatic center for a free swim day with my brother Quentin's 5 wee ones and Tennille and the girls joined us. Dad didn't want to get burned so he kept his shirt on, does he have a t-shirt for swimming yes, but does he wear it, obviously not. I thought this fashion went out in the 90's. LOL, literally.
The kids had a really great time and there was a bouncy house and a huge slip and slide outside the pool area too. Then we went to Nana and Papa's for baths, dinner, and a movie. We dropped them all off by 7pm and I went grocery shopping with my mom, watched a couple movies with my parents and called it a night.
Sunday, I took it easy just hung out at home, chit-chatted with mom, visited Nathaniel and Tennille. Monday was total smoothie day. I did a quick trip to Mexico, then grabbed some muffins from the shop I used to work at and two delicious giant smoothies. I took it all to my dad's office for lunch. After lunch I worked on my quilt and some laundry. My mom got home from work and then it became full on quilt time. Neither of us have ever made a jean quilt but I've had squares for over a year and been wanting to make one. I've really wanted a jean quilt for almost a decade now. Below is my mom with the first column she sewed.

Here is the first half of the quilt. It is jean with t-shirts from places I worked, went to school, lived, visited. A scrap-quilt, I'm sooo excited, its already looking sooo good.
My mom is amazing! In a couple weeks I'll be home and will be able to finish it. Yeah for crafts, jean quilts, and moms, YEAH! Also while we were quilting after we had dinner, my mom and I kept making comments about ice-cream so dad, being a great guy took our orders and headed out. One stop at the store for chocolate cherry ice-cream for mom and another shop for yet another delicious smoothie (this time Wild Berry) for me. Then I packed up and drove back to Phoenix. The weekend was nice- relaxation, family, and fun.
