Welcome to Texas!

Texans LOVE Texas, well most, I've come across maybe a 3 in my life that didn't, but everyone I came across today was proud to be from Texas.  And I mean PROUD! Here's a Lexus in the church parking lot, such a beautiful car and they put this on it?
Longhorns under the Lexus name! Big hats, Big belt buckles and HUGE longhorns, this was a building downtown.

I stayed at a Marriott with a friend Becky who came down from Waco and her friend Bethany and in the morning, this was breakfast.
Belgian waffle shaped like Texas, in Arizona do you get a belgian waffle shaped like Arizona? Yeah, I didn't think so.  So after breakfast we went and saw the San Antonio LDS temple, it was gated and locked so we couldn't get up real close to it, but its very pretty.  Becky told me the Angel Moroni on top was meant for the Houston temple (which I'll see today) but the small one for San Antonio was hit by lightening and had to be repaired and the dedication was happening soon so they used the one for Houston so its bigger proportionally then the original plan, but I totally love it that way. And Houston got the repaired San Antonio one, so supposedly it will look real small, I will see.
Then we went to church, the single's ward actually had more guys then girls and was a really nice size not too big not too small.  But alas, I know I could never live in Texas.  It was nice to visit though.  Then we went downtown to see the Alamo.  This is a monument outside in the square that is for those that died at the Alamo and has Crocket and several others on it, with an angel in the front of it.
The back is a man burning the flames are all around him and shooting up from right above me.

Below is the Alamo, Becky and her friend have been here like a dozen or more times and they always do photo shoots all over the grounds so, they had me posing EVERYWHERE.  Which I love to pose and model (read the bio at the side) but it was swamped with people and slightly awkward for me.

Here Becky was telling me to do something and these two guys were walking by Becky (taking the photo) and I was scratching my head and untangling my hair and right after they said, "do the hair thing it looks good", it was a bit creepy to me.  And unbeknownst to me, Becky had already taken the shot.

Love Becky in the background, totally makes the shot.

Actual Canon from the Alamo, they are much smaller than I thought they would be.  Also note, the super cute sun hat.  It was hot and humid and windy, so the hat blew off twice but did a pretty good job at staying on, keeping me sunburn free and making me look super hot.  One little hat, did a lot. Below is the gift shop built after the Alamo, really ornate and pretty doorway.  This is also where we were scolded for trying to take a photo of one of there sheriff badges on me.  I guess there was a sign that said no photography but we missed that and it was a gift shop for pete sake!

I also learned here that one Six Flags originated in Texas and is for the "Six Flags of Texas." They are: the U.S.; two Texas flags, their state flag and the one when they were a republic of their own; the flag when they were under Mexico; flag when under France; and flag when under Spain flag.  I didn't know the Amusement park came from such a historical thing, I thought that it was pretty interesting. We couldn't take pictures inside the actual remaining piece of the original Alamo but the ceiling was really beautiful and the original chandeliers too.  Here is a picture I found online, in the background you can see the Six Flags.  Currently they have electric lights in the chandeliers.

After the Alamo we walked across the square and found two REALLY AMAZING MEN! I have always wanted a tall guy and I found the tallest man in the world. I think we make a cute couple.

Or since you're a bit picky mom, how about him?
Though he doesn't seem to like my affection.  Haha! This was Ripley's Believe it or not. And we didn't have to pay to see these two.  The first is the tallest man ever who was 8ft11in and died at the age of 22 in 1940 from a blister from one of his braces that turned into an infection. The second is the biggest waist ever, 9ft11in. wider than the tallest man, he died in 1991 at the age of 47. So sadly I will never get my perfect man. After this we went to find a place to change my windshield wipers.  I tried to do it myself before I left but wasn't sure and was afraid to break something. Becky, never afraid to ask for anything and firmly believing this why men exist we found an auto store.  Where David was friendly enough to not only change them, even though they weren't parts from his store but also gave us a how-to lesson.  Which I appreciated because unlike Becky, I rather do things myself then have to be dependent on someone, just in case, ya know.  Also I found out, whoever put on the old ones (dad) put on the passenger side one backwards, which it still functioned but had to be broken to get off, thank goodness we got David's help.
Then we went to walk around the mall and be able to talk indoors out of the heat. The end of the Riverwalk is at the mall and the boats turnaround here.  And of course Becky had to get some more poses from me. Then I headed to Houston.  The drive was finally out of the desert and the country was green and beautiful. Definitely more humid in Houston. So far I have enjoyed some of the courtesy of the Texans, it is always "Sir or Maam" ALWAYS from EVERYONE. Though the police, are not so courteous, I got pulled over for doing THREE miles over the speed limit, I repeat THREE miles. This was before I hit San Antonio but I was TICKED to say the least. Then he ticketed me for not having current insurance, which I do and he I'm sure could look up on his computer but he still HAD to write a ticket and say "maam" as if he was being nice. Giving a citation is not nice. And even though I don't love the accent, I especially hated it from the cop, I have this weird thing where I start talking like people I'm around.  I'm not making fun of them, I don't mean to do it, it just happens.  I have to actually make myself stop.  Its a problem I'm sure I'll be dealing with this whole trip, now that I'm fixin to spend the next couple weeks in the south :) Thank you so much Becky for the wonderful time, I loved seeing you. PS Here's another pic from my car I didn't put up from the Friday drive, I thought it was awesome with the sunlight.
Well its off to see Houston. Seriously, loving my trip!
